Wolfgang Busch was born and raised in Heppenheim, Germany, and has been living in New York City since 1984. He is listed on the Heppenheim Wikipedia page under “Persönlichkeiten der Stadt Heppenheim” and on the “LGBT+ Celebrities” website for his work in the entertainment industry.
Wolfgang got his start in the entertainment industry by volunteering with Local 802, America’s largest musicians’ union. His legacy is best known for his influence in New York City’s legendary nightclubs—Limelight, Palladium, China Club, and Danceteria—where he worked as a promoter and booking agent for rock and dance acts, and for his involvement with NYC underground artistic subcultures such as the Harlem Ballroom community, the originators of voguing dance, and the Flagging and Fanning community. He has also served in leadership roles on several boards of directors.
His commitment and dedication to community empowerment and to setting trends in music, sport, and social communities earned him over 20 awards and honors, including two Humanitarian Awards, and his company, Art From The Heart Films, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Wolfgang lectured on artistic empowerment and HIV/AIDS awareness at prestigious universities, including Yale University, Penn State University, and New York universities, and internationally in London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin, accompanied by screenings of his award-winning documentary How Do I Look about the Harlem voguing community.
Wolfgang is a New York City community organizer, grassroots activist, and cultural archivist from the mid-1980s to the present.

Since 1984, Wolfgang has been setting trends and influencing the New York City Rock Live Music scene,
the International LGBT Ballroom - Flagging & Sports community.
Wolfgang has 35+ years experience as a producer, director, educator, activist and grass root organizer,
lecturing Artistic empowerment and HIV/AIDS awareness.
University students at Yale, NYU and Penn State use his film "How Do I Look" for thesis and
Not -For-Profit Youth & AIDS organizations for education and outreach.
In 2015, Wolfgang Busch received the "Keep The Dream Alive" Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award
and his company Art From The Heart Films was inducted into the "Hall of Fame"
for six consecutive years for "Best Gay & Lesbian Business in Queens, NY." and his
accomplishments are published in Ed Karvoski's book "Award Winning Men".
Wolfgang appeared in the New York Times three times, had a full page feature in the
NY Post and was published in magazines worldwide.
Wolfgang appeared on NBC, BBC, CBS News on LOGO TV and WBAI and Sirius Radio.
In 1984, Wolfgang volunteer at the Musician's Union in New York City, the Local 802's Rock R&B Committee,
producing seminars & showcases for its 1,200 members.
In 1988, Gabriel Rotello introduced Wolfgang to NYC nightlife and became a club promoter,
host & booking agent at the Legendary discos Limelight, Palladium, Tunnel, Danceteria and China Club.
From 1990 until 2000, Wolfgang was a Manhattan Neighborhood Network TV producer and director.
He was serving on the Producers committee and received two grants for his show "New York New Rock TV".
In 1994, Wolfgang produced & directed for the FIFA World Cup Committee the Charlie Stillitano
"Man of the Year" award video, which was screened at the FIFA awards dinner in New Jersey.
In 1996, Wolfgang volunteered for the New York City Sister City Program, a New York / Tokyo cultural
exchange program, sponsored by the United Nations and the NYC Mayors office, where he
received the "Communicator" award for his Tokyo / New York Youth Baseball series documentary.
In 2002, Wolfgang was a political liaison on the Manhattan Borough President
C. Virginia Field committee, representing the LGBT art, sport and social communities.
In 2006, Wolfgang's company, Art From The Heart Films, released his first worldwide distributed
"How Do I Look" documentary about the Harlem Ballroom community; in 2007 he released
"A True Lesson in Humanity" about people with disability in the performing art; and in 2011
he released "Flow Affair", a documentary about the Flagging & Fan Dance community.
Wolfgang's Youtube channels have been viewed by more than
1.5 million people and is inspiring and touching peoples' heart worldwide.
Wolfgang received more than 30 awards, honors and certificates and is one of the most
awarded, celebrated and recognized individual in the LGBT community.
